Another week, another classic summer look that is too often under appreciated - distressed denim cutoffs paired with button down shirts. The contrast between a clean cut collared shirt and ripped up jean shorts is the perfect weekend look when you want to stay comfortable and look cool.

What I love about distressed denim cutoffs and button down shirts paired together is that the classic and more modest blouse elevates the casual shorts without looking out of place. If short shorts aren't your thing, have no fear, boyfriend fit denim cutoffs are equally as stylish. Although the ladies above rocked lightweight long sleeve button-downs the same vibe can be achieved with a short sleeve or sleeveless blouse as well.
I especially like the look when worn with a great pair of oxfords. Leandra of The Man Repeller mixed her blouse and shorts with some great booties (see here), which is a style combo I'm 100% in favor of.

I love this look–I have a ton of those type of shirts, now all I need is to find a pair of shorts. I've been on the hunt!

Adore it! I've been leaning on this combo a lot-- just packed about four sets of shorts + oxford button downs for my vacation next week! That first outfit is so darlingly British with the shorts + brogues together.
