Alexander Wang Heading to Balenciaga?!

Happy weekend everybody! Have you heard the news? The news that Alexander Wang is taking over as creative director of Balenciaga?! What do you think?? 

At this point,  it is still technically a rumor but Nicolas Ghesquière exits the house today, and although there has been no confirmation from Wang or Balenciaga's team, the official announcement is anticipated to come soon.

As much as I LOVE Alexander Wang, I'm a bit disappointed to see Nicolas Ghesquière leave. In my opinion his Fall collection for Balenciaga stole a little piece of my heart. His attention to couture details is also impeccable. And of course he is adored by fashion it girls from Kristen Stewert to Miroslava Duma.

Alexander Wang does have huge commercial success though and an untouchable undeniable downtown cool vibe, so I can't wait to see what he brings to the brand.  And of course there is the fact that Alexander Wang's handbags have reached huge cult status much like Balenciaga. Take for instance Alexander Wang's Rocco bag vs Balenciaga's City bag. Which would you rather? I'm going to have to vote for Balenciaga's, it is a classic after all.

Finally, let's take a look at the Alexander Wang and Nicolas Ghesquière for Balenciaga's Spring 2013 runway shows. Both fabulous, and I can see the similarities: architectural elements,  cutouts, strong black and white color palettes.

StyleSaint - Procrastination Never Looked So Good

WARNING: If you are prone to procrastination and/or have a borderline obsession with fashion magazines, STOP READING NOW. Because I'm about to divulge the best looking way to waste time I have ever found - StyleSaint.

I could be completely behind the times, but I just got into exploring the brilliance that is StyleSaint this weekend, and now I'm officially addicted. The website is a bit like Pinterest in that it has loads of inspiration images you can "tear" to your own profile from the "style collective". 

What sets it apart is that it allows you to create sets of images and label them what you will, such as "Behind the Veil" or "Love You Long Time" and then organizes them together in a group and a final tearsheet. Thus, StyleSaint makes you the editor of your own fashion magazine. From fashion photography to street style shots, Style Saint has it all. Check out these other amaze images I found below.

For the sophisticated man in your life, go for the classics - a universally flattering pair of Ray-Ban aviators, a plaid scarf, a luxe money clip - things they may not buy for themselves but that they will use all the time.  On that note, every guy loves a new gadget. Throw some wine into the mix and you have a sure fire winner of a gift with an electric corkscrew. I gave one to my boyfriend last year and he still loves to show it off whenever we have friends over for dinner. 

Have no fear, you don't have to spend a fortune just because he likes the good life. I recommend a design related coffee table book for a budget friendly buy. Consider this one on Eames, it makes an impact in style but doesn't leave a long lasting impression on your wallet.

Dark dull winter days can be depressing, so don't wait until spring to bust out your neon, incorporate some pop into your winter looks. Crushing On - Puffer Vests

I've been seriously crushing on a couple of outfit pictures making their rounds about Pinterest, and they both happen to feature puffer vests. I've never given much thought to this classic cold weather wear, but puffy down vests - padded gilets if you wanna be fancy - are my newest must have.

Belting a puffer vest is a fun way to add a feminine shape to the loose form. To take the casual staple to the office keep colors subdued and throw it on over a sweater or blouse with patterned sleeves to add a little flair.

I've been a long time lover of Loeffler Randall shoes, and recently I have been coveting their handbags as well. So, of course when I received an email about their Resort collection I was overcome by filthy fashion lust;) Seriously, I want it all. And I want to be somewhere warm and tropical to wear it...

Mixed Berries

How gorgeous are outfits in shades of mixed berries, reds and oranges? I'm totes obsessed;) Chic, current and confident, outfits composed of head to toe red shades are a fashion players power look. 

Monochrome berry hued pants and blouse form a hot new neutral when playing background to an orange overcoat like this wallet friendly find from BB Dakota. And hello accessories. A chunky gold chain necklace and a white power clutch? I think so!

Layers and textures make this outfit standout. Wine color cords are now on my list of must buys.

It's Monday...which for many of us, signifies the start of a new work week. Since I prefer to wear stud earrings for work, now is the perfect time to explore the myriad of options available on the web. Fashion Camp

There's a few things you should know about me: 1. I don't camp 2. I don't camp 3. I don't camp! An exception to the rule would be if I'm staying in a luxury log cabin with running water and NO bugs, not even a daddy long legs, not one. That bit aside, I realize this is one of the last weekends before the bitter cold of winter creeps up us, and camping fanatics are able to enjoy a crisp fall weekend. I also love the idea of the freedom and fun people are able to have when they unplug and concentrate on friends and family for a weekend... Take Kate Moss here. Look at that wild child in action... And yes, I'm totally 100% sure she's not feeling the spirit due to any extracurricular activities other than roasting marshmallows;) 

So, what would a fashionista wear to spend a weekend in the woods? I can only guess, but I'm thinking fair isle knits, plaid, rugged boots, a touch of faux fur and lots of layers. And while designer pants may be a bit extreme when sitting on logs and fishing in streams, any fashionista knows that if you look good you feel good, so dress it up darlings;)

The moto jacket, a brilliant little piece that takes any look from classic to cool in a heartbeat. My love affair with moto jackets, or biker jackets if you prefer, started back in high school and my collection keeps on growing.  Lucky for me, designers have introduced an abundance of variations on the classic black leather biker jacket, from boucle to mettalic to cotton to color. 

The stylish set has embraced the moto jacket trend, so now everyone is sure to follow. The look can take you from meeting to pub crawl to luncheon. I highly suggest you jump on the bandwagon. Below are a few biker inspired jackets that I have my eye on at the moment.

Winter White + A Touch of Black

Winter white (in both fashion and furnishings) is a perennial favorite of mine, despite the fact that for me at least, it's more practical to awe over than to actually own. Whether your winter white comes in the form of a long pleated dress or an ivory biker jacket, soft creme colors project instant chic. 

If dressing like a snow angel seems like too big of a departure, a touch of black can take the look from ladies who lunch to gals that brunch. Clothing designs that incorporate both white and a touch of black in them are my personal favorite; they add instant pizazz to an otherwise neutral basic.
