Jumping for Joy Cioci

Spring 2012 collection, available here

Recently while online shopping for a new spring frock I was captivated by Joy Cioci's watercolor like prints and subtle but saturated hues.  I've read nothing but rave reviews on the fit of her luxurious yet wearable items. No surprise, considering that prior to launching her namesake line in Fall 2011, Cioci worked with Gucci, Carolina Herrera and Nina Ricci.

Fall 2012 collection

The feminine detailing yet strong state of her fall collection has me even more smitten. Take a peak inside her showroom and at the rich details of the fall collection on Fashion New York Girl.  I'm convinced I must own something when this collection hits retail. The silk pleated pants perhaps?

Girl Gadgets: iPhone Case the Rainbow

From Andy Warhol graphics to studded editions, there is something for everyone when it comes to iPhone cases. For iPhone addicts like myself there is really no other option than a battery booster, so I rely on my Mophie to keep me texting all night long. By chance I break my technology co-dependence I will be needing at least a few colorful cases....
Which case is your favorite?

Thirsty Thursday - Lava Flow

Dion Lee dress, BCBGMAXAZRIA sandals, Of Two Minds pants

After coming home from back-to-back Coachella and Puerto Vallarta trips I'm officially having vacation withdrawals. How should I ease my pain back into reality? A classic tropical cocktail, of course! This my friends is where I bring to you the Lava Flow, a sugary blended drink that is just as pretty as it is pool worthy. One warning though: the sugar content is high so be careful not to overdo them or you may awake feeling like you've been caught in a hurricane;)

Ingredients (for 1 serving):
  • 1 oz light rum
  • 1 oz Malibu coconut rum
  • 2 oz strawberries
  • 1 banana
  • 2 oz pineapple juice
  • 2 oz coconut cream

Blend banana, coconut cream, and pineapple juice in a blender and set aside. In the bottom of a hurricane glass, stir together both rums and strawberries.

Pour the blended mix slowly into the glass and presto! Watch the strawberry/rum mix flow up the sides of the glass.

San Francisco Decorator Showcase 2012

Today I had the pleasure of attending the press preview for the 35th annual San Francisco Decorator Showcase, which is nothing short of awe inspiring.  Although I usually don't blog on companies/projects related to my day job (I work with ScavulloDesign among other brands under Big Picture PR),  I just can't resist sharing a few of the amazing room designs.

Fiesta Flair - Mexican Inspired Maxi Dresses

I'm off to Puerto Vallarta for a long wedding weekend! With vacation on my brain these traditional Mexican inspired numbers caught my eye. Cotton embroidery, color pop and flirty flounces mark the trend. I prefer to keep hair simple and sleek and leave jewelry to  large statement earrings. Maxi dresses are my current craving but I also fell for these shorter numbers from Leaves of Grass  and Etoile Isabel Marant

Coachella Recap

Last weekend I went to Coachella for the first time and let me tell you, it was a whirlwind. From Kaskade to Dr.Dre there were some amazing performances. Besides a freak rain storm Friday night and cool winds Saturday (I had to go to Target and buy jeans, No Joke!) weather was ideal. I've always been more comfortable behind the lens, but what the heck...below are my looks and some fun extra shots from the festival.
DAY 1: Blank Denim shorts, Vince Camuto sunglasses, Victoria Secret bikini, random tank DAY 2: Reverse kimono jacket, Mara Hoffman bikini from last year (similar here and here), Mossimo jeans, Ray Ban sunglasses DAY 3: Tt Collection blouse, Blank Denim shorts, Vince Camuto sunglasses

Extras: Great sunsets and lights at the site, a cool concert goer, myself trying to get ready minus a full length mirror (yes, I'm standing on the bathtub), lust worthy Isabel Marant sneakers, me and Blaine(boyfriend) w/ our friend Heather, and finally just a common couple of crazies:)

Pattern Play: Ikat Edition

Every year when the weather warms up I start thinking about adding touches of ikat to my apartment. Currently the tribal inspired motif is making its way into my heart fashion wise as well.

Coachella Bound

Well my dears, I'm off to Coachella and by tomorrow evening I will be dancing under the neon lights of the Sahara Tent. I've packed my tribal prints, my neon brights and my sunscreen; and although I wish you could all join me, alas you cannot. Below are a few photos to help you see what's in store...

Workwear Wednesday: Pointy Flats

San Francisco: hills, public transportation, walking, more walking....Although I spent my first 3 months here trying to tromp around the city in my LaLa Land heels, I have succumbed to wearing flats 80% of the workweek. Well what type of flats, you might ask? Ones with fierce pointed toes, of course! Don't get me wrong, this girl loves her a ballet flat, but when it comes down to office attire, something about a sharp toe says "I mean business" that more slipper like looks don't quite get across.

P.S. Those Loeffler Randall's (#3) will be MINE!

Closet Envy

Olivia Wilde's dressing room (from the pages of InStyle) is nothing short of fabulous. But what if you don't have the space to dedicate an entire room to your dressing pleasure? Below are a few creative gems sure to inspire  new ways to organize your closet.

I love the idea of using a traditionally formal setting to display some of your most beloved shoes and clothing items. Trust me, if my boyfriend would let me my living room would be a fashion haven.

If you've never dreamt of shopping before, try sleeping amongst your most colorful clothing. Beautiful idea, although I have a feeling this could make for a serious closet case;)

Finally, I love the idea of displaying just a few of your most cherished pieces on a simple clothing rack.  Images via Pinterest

Jewel Box: Shark Attack

Don't... Go In... The Water.... But if you do, make sure to show those lurking predators what you're made of by sporting a discarded tooth or two of theirs.

I was lucky enough to snag my own fossilized shark's tooth dipped in gold on Hautelook last summer, and I always feel more prepared to face near death when wearing it. Although I  don't recall who created my tough girl bling, there are more than a few new designs I may have to add to my jewelry box.

The Spring 2012 runways were full of shimmer and sass, with fringe aplenty. From Oscar de la Renta's fairy tale pastels to Gucci's fierce flapper inspired numbers, designers have taken the 1920's fashion trademark into the twenty-first century. Below are just a few of my favorite looks from the runway.

Top Row: Ralph Lauren, Oscar de la Renta, Herve Leger, Marchesa. Bottom Row: Julien Macdonald, Gucci , Jen Kao (Fall '12), Temperley

If a flapper inspired dress isn't your style, try adding an an unexpected flair to your outfit with a  tasseled gilet (which I'm drooling over). I'm also loving all of Brian Atwood's tasseled shoes this season, which is an easy way to ease into the spring trend without looking like you just spent the night dancing in a speakeasy.
