Interior Inspirations: Clear Story

While scouring Pinterest for my last post on Lucite heels, I found some amazing interiors I have to share. Furniture manufacturers are creating everything from desks to picnic tables in our clear friend, so there is no excuse to shy away from the lucite craze. A few ways to use lucite in the home:

1. Ground clear pieces with a strong statement rug in vibrant colors. It makes light reflections even more interesting and doesn't take away from what lies beneath.

2. When used in an all white setting lucite can elevate a pristine space to outright glam. The  table in the right image has my heart beating faster..

3. Rustic elements such as antlers and caramel toned fabrics create a masculine/feminine balance rarely achieved. And yes, that is a lucite four poster bed you see!

4. Crystal clear desks and chairs help break the tension that can form in a work space and they leave you no excuses for a messy desk.

Is it just me, or are Lucite heels suddenly something not to fear your daughter wearing anymore? This season it's clear designers are beginning to embrace the Lucite look and they are experimenting with innovative subtle options for those afraid of being seen through. Since skirts are getting shorter this time of year I love Lucite combined with blush and nude shades, like these Stuart Weitzman stunners, or maximum leg lengthening.

Fashions Fit for Festivals - Coachella

The countdown to Coachella is on! Three more weeks of work and I'll be dancing in the heat with 50,000+ of my nearest and dearest. It's never too soon to start planning your party outfit(s), so below is a sneak peak of what I have in mind.

A few things to keep in mind when packing for Coachella 
   1. It gets extremely hot in the day, so a loose fitting top in breathable material (or a bikini top) is the way to go 
   2. Comfortable shoes are key. Break in your shoes first and find a brand made for walking
   3. Unfortunately, porta pottys are a reality..so wear bottoms that are easy to work with
   4. Night time gets chilly. Take some sort of cover that's easy to fit in a bag (hence the kimono jacket)
   5. Fashion, like music, is fun! Bold jewelry and bright colors help you look backstage worthy in a flash

Work Wear Wednesday: Floral Blazers

This morning while doing my usual "What should I wear to work today?" peruse through my closet I realized I'm missing one key piece, a floral blazer. I'm not a girly-girl but the structure of a blazer allows this season's floral trend to translate from the office to a date  perfectly. Which blazer above is your favorite? I think the Rebecca Minkoff is calling my name...

Welcome to the Darkside: Black Walls

It's staying light out later, so why not embrace your dark side and try cloaking a room of your home in black. From mid-century modern to traditional romanticism, there really isn't a style that black walls don't work with. White trim helps bring light in despite the dramatic hue, and pops of color in seating, pillows and rugs allow life to shine through. If a masculine or hipster vibe is more of what you're looking for, keep colors in the room other than black or white to a minimum and add interest through quirky art and accessories.

Thirsty Thursday: Irish Eyes

With St. Patrick's Day around the corner, I wanted to share with you Irish Eyes, a creamy green cocktail perfect for a lady like celebration. With this drink in your hand and a flirty green ensemble, you won't even have to say "Kiss me I'm Irish" to have the boys flocking.

Ingredients:

• 1 oz Irish Whiskey
• 1/4 oz Creame de menth
• 2 oz Cream    

Directions:
Simply pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice, shake, and enjoy!

Novel Necessity: Bicep Cuffs

As soon as I saw these Maison Martin Margiela Bronze-Tone Arm Cuffs on Net-a-Porter my eyes lit up. I hate to brag, but 3 years of Pilates has made my arms one of my best features; Madonna eat your heart out! As soon as I find a find a reasonably priced alternative (perhaps these adjusted to fit the upper arm), I will be rocking my arm cuffs day and night.  Have no fear silver gals, the same fabulous Arm Cuffs are available in silver here.

Room to Runway: Flower Power

The new issue of Lonny magazine has arrived, so I thought it only fitting that my first Room to Runway post use one of its' beautiful interior images.  The geometric floral print of this Tucker blouse has a modern but feminine feeling just like the vintage Bob Collins & Sons wallpaper featured in the dining area of Kemble Interiors designer, Anna Burke's New York apartment.  The gold chain necklace on the model mimics the sleek bar cart and provides an extra element of sophistication. Currently Craving: Rose Colored Glasses

I'm currently craving the perfect pair of nude and rose gold sunglasses. Rosy hued frames warm up every skin tone and rose gold accents are an unexpected alternative to classic silver and gold. For a mod look try a pair of cat eye frames. If you are more of a rocker chic, I suggest sticking to a classic aviator.
