Sister, Sister

Since its' launch in 2009 Lonny magazine has published some seriously memorable spaces. In the Feb/March 2010 issue sisters Antonia and Victoria Thompson were profiled, and although they live in the same Greenwich Village building and have identical apartment layouts, their styles are anything but carbon copies.

Above,Victoria's Palm Beach mid-century modern aesthetic is displayed through clean lines, lucite, and pops of bright color. Below, Antonia's apartment which embraces and eclectic "hodgepodge" of antiques and ethnic pieces.

There is no question that both ladies have exquisite taste, but in 2 years of coming back to this layout I have yet to settle on my clear favorite. Which apartment do you prefer? View the entire story here.

On My Radar: Printed Pants

Watch out... Printed pants are on the prowl, and these are the kind of pants that make you want to turn up your ipod and have a party of one. Not for the faint of fashion, silky materials and tapered legs draw attention to your lower half, like it or not.

My favorite way to incorporate them into your wardrobe is with a solid tee, leather jacket and major heels. Just beware, even though we women may love them, these are more Man Reppeler than hunk catcher.

The Vagaries of Fashion vs. Betty Draper

I stumbled upon this gem of a photo spread (The Vagaries of FashionVogue Italia) and was instantly reminded of my favorite dysfunctional TV mom, Betty Draper from Mad Men. With less than 2 months until the premier of the new season, I thought this would be the perfect time to share it with y'all along with a clip of some of Mrs. Draper's most impressive parenting moments. Please enjoy...

Feeling Yellow

Recently, the hottest celebrities including Charlize Theron and Kirsten Dunst have lit up the red carpet in yellow frocks. From gowns to day dresses to headphones, designers are offering us options from a  little yellow to a lot of yellow so we can join the bandwagon and have a bright sunny day.

Thirsty Thursday: The French 75

There are few things I like better  than a delicious champagne cocktail. I recently discovered the French 75, a potent little gem invented by a French WWI pilot who wanted to add an extra kick to his champagne. Soon it caught on with legendary drinkers F. Scott Fitzgerald and Ernest Hemingway, so you know when a Kir Royale just won't cut it, this is the classy drinkers' obvious choice.

French 75:
1 oz London Dry Gin (or Cognac)
1/2 oz lemon juice
1/4 oz simple syrup (or a bar spoon of fine sugar)
Champagne to fill the glass

Shake the lemon juice, sugar and gin (or Cognac) in a shaker full of ice, strain it into a cold glass, and top it off with chilled Champagne. (Note: the colder this cocktail is, the better it tastes)

Karl Lagerfeld's New Lower-Price Line KARL Hits Net-a-Porter!

Once again, Karl Lagerfeld is shutting it down. His exclusive new lower-price line, KARL, hit  Net-a-Porter today and is already selling out. Quintessential Lagerfeld influences including fingerless gloves, collars and rocker vests are seen throughout the collection. The best part is that pieces range from $95 to $450, so you don't have to be a Chanel priced shopper to have some of Mr. Lagerfeld's genius in your closet.

I will be online tonight deliberating on my first KARL purchase. What will yours be? To see the entire collection visit Net-a-Porter.com.

Surface Story: Eskayel

I have been dying to wallpaper a faux-wall for my apartment for months now. After pouring over countless websites and scores of samples, I think I may have found my winner; Eskayel. Launched in 2009, each ethereal design is taken from an original painting by artist Shanan Campanaro.

The dreamy digital prints in combination with names such as Shamans Smoke and Ivory Outpost project a boho-luxe vibe perfect for eclectic interiors.
With  2'x11' drops of wallpaper running $350, the line is definitely a bit more luxe than boho. But for me, this is something worth saving for!

What I Want Now - Pleated Maxi Skirts

I've been drooling over long pleated skirts lately to wear now with over-sized men's sweaters and then when it gets warmer with a chic tank. I think I may need to get an accordion pleated skirt to dress up for night and a billowy maxi skirt for weekend flea market hunting.

Office Space

It's the start of another work week, and it has me thinking about re-designing my home office. Here's just a little inspiration I found on Pinterest.

I wish I knew who designed all of these rooms so I could give proper credit, but alas I do not. From top Down: image & design by Domicile Interior Design, unknown , unknown , image by Hannah Blackmore

Boot Up!

It's raining, it's pouring...and it's time to throw aside your umbrella and do a little dancing. Before you do though, you may want to invest in a new pair of rain boots.

The days of yellow galoshes are long gone and designers have come up with a myriad of solutions for wet weather foot wear. Me personally, I have moto inspired Burburrys on my wish list **hint hint**.

Caftan Craze

I'm officially daydreaming of warmer days and the bohemian caftans I will wear for cabana dates and concerts. Animal prints, Aztec inspirations, and neon brights are a few of my favorite caftan looks.

Hot For the Home: Terrariums

I think I may have finally found a solution to my dangerous black thumb; succulent and air plant terrariums. From bright colored abstractions such as the above by Litill, to wall bubbles, hanging gardens, and even wacky pant toppers like Gessato's Domsai Terrariums, I just can't get enough.

Novel Necessity: Neon Satchel

I'm kind of obsessed with The Flouro neon satchel from the Cambridge Satchel Company. At $179 (available at Asos) this bag packs some serious cool and embraces the neon trend without breaking the bank. Now, yellow or pink?

Fur & Finger Armor

This weekend we were in Santa Barbara visiting friends and I proudly sported my new favorite going out look. A show stopping jacket (I'm not one to be cold in order to look sexy) and finger armor ( the arm candy of 2012). Funktional jacket ; Low Luv x Erin Wasson Armor ring (similar here) and Iosselliani Stackable rings (similar here).

Sometimes a space just grabs you. Which is exactly what this master bedroom of a Venice Beach home designed by Vanessa De Vargas did to me. The mix of primary colors and bold patterns combined with modern metalic table lamps and classic Asian side tables is out of this world. Design sources: wallpaper by Ferm Living , bedding by Jon Robshaw , custom headboard by Turquoise.

Red Carpet - Critics' Choice Awards

I had a dream. And in that dream I was wearing designer gowns and attending fancy schmancy award ceremonies. Without further ado, here are my top picks from last night's Critics' Choice Awards.

Is Male-Polish the New Guy-Liner

The metro-sexualization of American culture is nothing new. Over the past few years Guy-Liner has crept past the realm of rock stars and into every line outside of Hollywood. So what’s next you ask? With that I present to you, Male-Polish. Yes M-A-L-E polish.

Jared Leto, Dave Navarro, and Johnny Depp have all been seen proudly sporting aggressively polished fingers, and now EvolutionMan has launched a line of “paints” and “varnishes” marketed specifically to men. Included are various shades, ranging from metallic, to concrete, matte, and satin. Read more..

Just Another BART Ride ;)

Last Sunday was San Francisco's 11th annual "No Pants" BART ride day. Being the joker that I am, I decided to start off our day in the city by hopping on the NoPantsSF route, without warning my boyfriend of what he was about to witness of course. His face and the looks of the other innocent bystanders (below) were just as priceless as seeing the hundreds of exhibitionists stroll through the city sans pants and sans problems.

Dude, Where's My Car?

Last week I returned home from vacation to find that my car had been reported "abandoned" and subsequently towed. Welcome home right?! On the up side, it randomly reminded me of a "just for fun" photoshoot I did with one of my besties years ago. Now if only playing Top Model could bring my money back..
