Is it just me, or is there a striking similarity between (parts of) Giambattista Valli's Fall 2012 Couture collection and Reiss' A/W collection? Both design houses are having a green moment this Fall and they're incorporate the striking olive to emerald shades into watercolor like prints - "abstract nature" as Reiss calls it.
The Giambattista Valli Fall 2012 Couture collection was filled with Monet like prints, with the show inspiration laying in flower gardens and lily ponds. Layers of different exquisite fabrics in the same print and appliques make this collection wistful and truly couture.
Reiss takes abstract nature prints and combines them with sheer fabrics in modern shapes. They've styled their looks into outfits ranging from glam evening looks to work wear to street chic, making them accessible and wearable for the style minded gal with a real world budget. Speaking of Reiss, have any of you worn the brand before? Any input on their sizing etc? I have yet to try them, but I do have my eye on this gold pencil skirt and this ribbed jumper dress.
Love the whole collection!

Bit of a mixed feel about this. I prefer the more avant-garde dresses from the top - I feel like translated to more ready-to-wear pieces they lose that kind of magic from the first and really just add to the growing abstract print trend. :(
ReplyDeleteThat said, the first collection is amazing.
